This appeared on Autocar last week, in case you missed it. It looks like they are testing a petrol replacement for the 4.2 S/C engine on the FFRR (and surely RRS as well.)

Hi Chaps,

I was at Fords research facility in Essex a few weeks ago speaking to one of the engineers about LR engines.

It seems there is a 5.0 petrol , the 3.6 v8 will grow to 4.0 and the 2.7 will grow to3.0.

Also interesting chat about the v6.....We all know it goes into other cars....jag/peugoet etc.
Toyota have recently tried to buy the rights to fit the engine in their cars....strange for the japs who like to develop their own engines.

Apparently Ford refused as they wanted design rights to modify the engine .

No firm news on when we will see the new engines but the chaps at the engine plant were talking about this time next year.

I was told by someone who should know that the V10 & V12 rumours were red herrings and that there will be a 5.0 V8 petrol.
