It can be fitted over here as part of an aftermarket alarm system, Clifford and other suppliers etc all offer it as an option to go with the alarm being fitted to the car.

When the key is inserted it is recognised as the one programmed to the car. The key reader transmits the data from the key which has to match. To activate this you would need a third key programmed to the vehicle and hidden away so that it was read on the start sequence before entering the one in the ignition, once the vehicle has started it ignores the signal from the key, obviousley because of high speed failure etc while driving. So as long as it reads one with the correct option code for that car first, it doesn't matter what you put in the ignition after, once the engine is running. Hope this is ok for you to understand.
