2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I'm probably too late with this now................................. in the manual it says that ALL the doors and the tailgate
must be unlocked - so if you have just been driving along and you have the self locking facility enabled then only the drivers door will unlock when you get out................... so unlock once and then press the button a second time
to unlock all the secondary doors, tailgate and fuel filler.

Just learned something new too...... there is a small arrow head on the petrol pump icon on the fuel gauge, |I always wondered what it was and now I know! Embarassed Embarassed It points to the side that the fuel filler flap is on! Maybe I should be a wimp and read the manual from cover to cover sometime, instead of only reading the bits I need when something doesn't work. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Funny, I did the same thing and noticed that! I did tell her about the double unlock while on the forecourt. I'll try it, and all the other ideas, when I get back in an hour. Might be something simple (fingers crossed) and she might have got in a tizz while being hassled on the forecourt.

See, shouldve got the TDV8... Ive actually broken the bloody cap from filling it up with petrol all the bleedin time. Just Picked up: 2006 RRS S/C, java with Ivory.

Apols if too late to be of use but inside the boot on mine there is a small panel which pops out and in there somewhere is an emergency release for the filler cap door - I read it on here once and then the next day needed that info.

I cannot recall if it was a lever or a tab but something in there E releases the filler cap door.

Good luck

Right, just got back in.

bloody unbelieveable, went outside to check it out and... the bloody thing was ALREADY OPEN!

Swear to god.

Anyway, im sure there was a problem so Im gonna find out about the options if it happens again. Tried locking, unlocking and putting it back on and it popped out as it should so possibly went over a bump and released it (which would explain why it was hanging open when i reached it)

thanks everyone for all your replies, really refreshing to find a forum with such helpful members. Just Picked up: 2006 RRS S/C, java with Ivory.

Heres a bit of info. thats hidden from everyone with regard to which side the petrol flap is on.

If you look at the fuel gauge on any car there will be a petrol pump symbol, then check which side the filler comes out. If pump is depicted with filler on the left then the flap is on the left and vice-versa.

If dealers explained this to customers there would be no need for arrows!!

Hope that your good lady isn't too stressed out by her refuelling experience......................

Just remember if you ever buy that TDV8 that you mustn't start it if you accidentally put petrol in the tank! That's far more inconvenient than having a mystery problem with the fuel flap!! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I can imagine!!!

Thought you couldnt do that nowadays anyway, with different nozzles on the forecourts... or is it you cant put diesel in a petrol (would make sense if the diesel one is larger) Just Picked up: 2006 RRS S/C, java with Ivory.

Oh you can put petrol in a Diesel very easily! There have been 2 threads over on the Maintenance boards in the last few weeks...............
The TDv8 is supposed to have a special flap that stops you putting a petrol nozzle into the tank (certainly the TDv8 FFRR has one) because it's refinement and performance is so like the S/C, I don't untend to find out if it works! Last Petrol engined car I had was 12 years ago - a 4.0ltr V8 Disco1, I think I have got petrol out of my system now. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
