I went to see The Golden Compass during the week - I really wasn't looking forward to it but it is a brilliant and beautifully made movie. The graphics and animatronics are amazing. A good view for anybody over about 12 years old! Nicole Kidman is very good as Pullman's version of the "Ice Queen" or "Wicked Witch of the North", Mrs Coulter. See if you can spot the "Gherkin" in the London skyline of the future and they have totally ruined Wren's wonderful naval college at Greenwhich by electronically plonking a "Dome" like structure at the end of the vista!
