Niggles and fixes

Well, took my car in today to have a few bits and bobs done on it, some on warranty, here was my list:

Replace broken rear number plate light
Replace windscreen wiper blades
Have front windows smoke tinted
Have Venture Tape bonnet film replaced
Test Nokia 6230 cradle

By the time I picked it up, the wiper blades they said they could not replicate the noise they make when I am in the car..typical, so I still have the annoying ones, the Venture Tape could not be fitted because the body shop fitted my new bonnet badge lettering badly, the spacing is all wrong and its not even in line I noticed, therefore the pre-cut template did not fit as a result.

Result is I need to go back AGAIN to have the badge replaced AGAIN so I can have the tape put back on AGAIN. The windows were done and the rear light was done. Shame about the bonnet though, I wish a week would pass without me having to go back to the dealership.

Phone issue seems to be my handset rather than the car, so need to ask work for a swap.

At least I got my free key-fobs...

Did you mention the issue with the heating system and the cold area on the drivers door. Would be interested to know.

No I didn't mention it, mainly because I thought if I overloaded them with issues they would insist on having the car in for days and I don't have the time for that. PLus it would confuse matters too much. I think you should try it out with them! Very Happy

They almost kept it in overnight just over the windscreen wipers.... Shocked L319 D4 HSE

Now I've remembered what I was going to ask about - NickP you reminded me but obviously it has been noted before. The last week of icy mornings I have noticed the right side of the drivers footwell to be very cold even if you have the little vents on the underside of the steering column open.! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Update.

Had a call from the Dealership yesterday to ask me if I will attend a meeting with the Dealer Principal Gary Phipps and the Bodyshop Manager Paul Bates.

For some reason they believe that the badly fitted bonnet badge may not have been their fault and therefore they should not refund me for the invoice for the aborted Venture Tape installation. Question

This will be interesting to hear. I've tried to think of one single reason how they could think this, but have come up with nothing....

Think I'll record the conversation for posterity. Wink L319 D4 HSE

WTF??
How can it not be their fault..
this will be interesting to hear.

By the way, how do the front window smoke tints look?
pics would be good, have been tempted to have mine done,
how much did this cost you?

Cheers.

I'm looking forward to seeing their reaction to me recording the meeting on my iRiver device. They know me well enough that I will use it to my best defence with LandRover should it get that far, and then for bad publicity on their part also.

Who knows, they may be asking me to come in to apologise and give me some free accessories....(yeah right, what WAS I thinking... Mad ) L319 D4 HSE

Thanks RRUk, sorry been away as you may know missed that thread!

Tints look brilliant.
Really tempted to have mine done.
I used to have a 3 series coupe with rear sun protection glass, and i had the fronts tinted slightly, and never had a problem with the police or was never stopped. It was obviously a graduated tint from the rear to the front, but i always though if i do get stopped, they may use it as an argument just to get me for something..

TBH, there's lots of cars out there with much darker front tints, mine don't look so bad in the light of day. I am pleased with the results for £100. The guys at Executive Tints did a smashing job.

Outcome of the meeting with Stratstone DP

The meeting went favourably, and the breaking point was really when we went out to look at my car's bonnet badge next to a brand new car. It is clearly out of line both vertically and horizontally and the space between the two words is far too small, the more I looked at it the more I realised how crap it looked. Mad

The Bodyshop manager who actually fitted the badge was there and made an excuse that there was no other cars around to check it agsainst on the day, which I refuted immediately, when does a LR dealer NOT have a single Range Rover sport on their grounds...come on.. I'm not a f8cking idiot. Evil or Very Mad

End result is the DP admitted they had "f8cked up" and they will pay the invoice for the aborted Venture tape install, get me a new badge fitted, provide me with a courtesy car, and arrange venture tape for same day. A week today it should all be sorted.

I was not trying to be unreasonable, all I want is for it to be right, as it should be, and luckily I didn't have to get arsey with them. L319 D4 HSE

Well done sir! Too many LR dealers seem to think the world will come to them and buy their products and cannot be bothered either to follow up enquiries from potential clients or to treat those that have spent a fortune with them like civilised and reasonable people when things don't go quite right.

I have also heard recently that Mercedes and BM outlets are becoming very offhand with their clients. Must admit I haven't crossed a MB dealership's doorstep since I was told by one snooty salesman that I couldn't afford to buy a Merecedes product despite parking my top spec V8 Disco, which at the time was only 2 years old, right outside the window opposite his desk............. I wouldn't even consider going it an MB dealership these days based on that experience. And from what I have heard their recent cars are nowhere near as well built as they used to be so I haven't missed out on much by not owning one! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
