Sorry to hear about this travesty, I would be  ucking livid!
Seems to me the last recovery agent will be receiving some form of legal communication from you or your brief!!
The knocking noises are a standard feature on the RRS-mine has been into Jacksons for a first service, and having tightened everything up, it doesn't knock at the moment.
Your other issues are new to me except the GPS.
In the UK when on a motorway it occasionally sends me off the motorway then back on again at the next on ramp. Perhaps the yanks are testing the GPS systems for their next war!
What disc do you have for the GPS? Mine is a 2007, perhaps you could earn a little beer money by 'renting' yours out if it is the latest 2008 version!
