HSE Spare Wheel 20" or 19"

Hello fellas,

Just got my 2.7 Sport HSE couple of weeks ago. Nothing fell off yet so I am happy (more than I can say for the wife's D3) so far but have a query about the spare wheel.

In the accessories & specification brochure it states that a full size spare is standard on the HSE, I ordered it with the 20" 10 spoke alloys and guess what - I have a 19" 6 spoke spare. Now I am aware that the overall diameter of both is similar due to the tyre profile, but in my book, full size means full size - as in the same.

Has my Stealer fleeced me (I think he got the vehicle with 19"s and added the 20"s) - Anyone fancy having a quick look under the back and letting me know what you have?

Been reading the forum on and off for the last couple of weeks, very impressed with its content so far, hopefully I can add to it!

Full size spares are all 19s regardless of whether you run on 19 or 20" wheels... At least you still get full sized spares in the UK, here in the US they started mounting compacts on both HSE and even S/C last year. Neutral

There is enough free space to put a 20” Wheel on the spare compartment? Yuri

I don't see why not. I was able to (barely) jam an 18" rim and all terrain tyre with a total diameter / circumference much larger than either stock 19 or 20" up there - although that required removal of the heat shield and partial deflation of the spare... So, I am pretty sure a 20" rim with stock tyre, which has pretty much the same overall dimensions as the full size 19", would fit in that well without any issues.

I agree also, a 20" would have plenty clearance underneath; pitty Land Rover don't think the same, sure they'll use the size issue as an excuse and of course fit a cheaper spare - got to make the profits where they can, talking of which I suppose I must be thankful that I got a spare at all and not a can of gunge.

With my MG ZT260 because it is converted from front wheel drive to rearwheel drive the diff had to go where the spare used to sit so I got 2 cans of gunk with the car. The stuff is about as useful as a chocolate fire guard, after a spate of punctures to the rear by the time you get stopped the inside of the tyrewall is destroyed and the gunk just runs out Confused Happened on the M74 southbound and had to get AA relayed home to Sunbury

What about the offset (275): may it can result, that the spare go to down; is that possible? Yuri

The offset is the same on all stock rims, 19 and 20 included... The 20" is slightly wider, so it will hang maybe a centimeter or two lower than the 19". No big deal.
