Enquired as to trade in value for my Feb 2007 TDv8 HSE (Rimini/Ebony), 5,000 miles and immaculate. Cost something like £53,000, trade in value only £45,000. Seems a bit disappointing, was hoping to be bid near £49,000 ? My TDv6 only lost £3,500 in over 12 months and 20,000 ! RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Does seem a little on the low side, however I'd expect a much higher premium if you sold privately - also remember there are always other factors. As car loose the biggest chunk of value in the first 0-6 months I guess you've asked at the wrong time? maybe

Mind you it was an enquiry about trading in against a Mini Dooper But then again the dealer did claim to have rung around loads of LR stealers, all of whom reported that "the TDv8 was behind book and losing money". I guess what they really meant was 2 dealers wanted to make £2.5k each out of the vehicle and would end up retailling her for £49,995 !

I would have a phone around some LR dealers yourself, I got a reasonable price for my D3 when I just asked a dealer how much they would give me for it and it was £1.5k higher than I had been offered as a px.

bloody hell i hope they recover over the next few months i will be getting rid of mine in 10 months time, i was not expecting to lose 10k  some of my Previous cars

TDV8 doesn't book so dealers will be using their invoices from Land Rover for similar new cars to guage an idea. They will be wanting to make a margin as they wouldn't be there otherwise, and that's compounded as you are not buying another LR product (i.e. they can afford to bid as low as possible as it is the Mini dealer who has to deliver the bad news to you). I would ask the supplying LR dealer for a price to buy, clean it up and meet the Sales Manager face-to-face, but I think the figure you've been offered by the Mini dealer is reasonable given that it is Rimini Red.

Or you could do what Envoy did and risk life and limb on Ebay?  TDV8 HSE in Java/Ebony with Zebrano Wood, RSE, Hybrid TV, and a few other bells and whistles.
