United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red
...am I being stupid ?

...but I have borrowed a Mini Cooper Diesel for the last couple of days and am now considering buying her to replace the Sport Shocked

The Mini is great fun, comfortable, fast, peppy and has done 58.8 mpg over 2 days of pretty "spirited" driving. Cruises at well over the speed limit in surprising comfort, turns twisty roads into a race track and ducks in and out of really tight spaces in town.

Has the lowest emissions (so low in fact the car tax is £35 and exempt from congestion charges). I spend 90% of my time in the RRS travelling alone with no more luggage than a briefcase or overnight bag. And when I need a bigger car I can use the wifes D3 or I have the Defender CSW if the going gets tough.

So would it be totally stupid to take this Mini (ex demo, dealer says I can have it for £15k, suggests depn in 2 years will be very low, running costs negligble and fun factor huge, and no guilt pangs).

Please, slap me and tell me not to be daft ....... RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Don't be a fool Smarticus... the Mini is a great runabout, but you'll spend the rest of your life fondly remembering the days when you had the RRS Shocked

Having had to drive around in a Suzuki Jimny Jeep as a main car for the past couple of years (it might be a 4x4 but it is still pretty small) from a safety aspect, you might find yourself feeling rather vunerable in a Mini after drivnging the RRS. It's better to be alive and poor, rather than rich and dead! Small cars are fine for around town or for a quick thrash through the lanes, but if you are doing a large mileage every day, the vunerablity factor is likely to trouble you. If you have no choice, then that is a different matter. Just my opinion.
