Mini Cooper

Showed wifey this yesterday

she fell in love with it and decided she fancied one - took a ride over to BMW Mini in Shrewsbury this morning only to discover you still cant get true white (Aspen White) - the only white is Pepper White, which is actually cream imo Confused so a bit dissappointed tbh

so been back home and shown wifey this

the wheels are BK Racing BK299 18's

which I like lots - what do you guys think?

just need to keep the fact that it wont get down the drive quiet for a bit while she makes her mind up

had a scary moment at one point when wifey said she liked the Citreon C4, but unfortunately I couldn't find the dealer Rolling Eyes Cool

this may stop the Touareg plans also now Confused which is a shame

Anything over 17" completely ruins the ride, and 17's are bad enough because of the very stiff run flat tyres. My Cooper is on 17" wheels with non-runflats and it's much better, but I don't then have the safety net of the run flats.

I'm not a fan of aftermarket wheels on the MINIs - if you like the split rim style look at the genuine MINI R90's (replicas are available):

The photo you've got of the white MINI has been converted to grayscale which is why it looks like a pure (Aspen) white, although Pepper White is a great colour and really suits the shape Smile

Are you looking at second hand 1st Generation MINIs or the new 2nd Generation? Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

thanks Martin - just looking through the new Mini brochure now and cant work out whether the Cooper comes with run flats as standard? it says it has a run flat sensor, however on the Cooper S spec, its says Run Flats and run flat sensor - implying the Cooper doesn't have runflats - they had a JCW on the forecourt with 18's on it so may be worth a test drive

that explains it - wifey just doesn't like the Pepper White so theres no hope there

was looking at the 1st Generation, however after comparing them today, plus the much improved mpg figures of the 2nd Generation may sway the decision

Any factory fitted wheel of 16" (as standard on the Cooper S, and Cooper with the Chili pack) or greater diameter is fitted with run flat tyres. The 15" wheels (standard on the One and Cooper without the Chili pack) are normal tyres and the car comes with a tyre gunk/compressor kit.

The run flat indicator is in fact a puncture/low pressure indicator, it's not runflat specific Smile

Definitely give a car with 18's a try to see if you/wifey can cope with the twitchy, harsh and jiggly ride Wink

The suspension on the 2nd Gen is also much more refined on larger wheels that the previous model, apparently this is because it was designed from the start to take runflat tyres, whereas the 1st Gen it was more of an afterthought Rolling Eyes Like this site? No probs Smile

Another option might be the 17" R98 web spoke:

Although they're only available in silver, the R90's are silver or anthracite. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

There are no factory special orders - they don't have the capacity to stop/start the line for a single vehicle in a special colour.

All special colours (even the official flip-paint schemes) are dealer resprays - they would probably order a Pepper White and respray it Aspen White. Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!
