I'm afraid it's the acids in the little blighters poo that are etching into the clear coat, it affects virtually every car, but I suspect it shows more on darker colours, if it doesn't come out with normal polishing with a fairly unabrasive wax, you may have to seek professional help, or you may do more damage than good. Keeping a coating of wax on like Meguiars or Autoglym etc helps a bit, but will not stop it. I don't know if the coatings offered by LR like Diamondbrite etc, are any better, someone on here may come along and tell you their experiences. Good Luck.

Use Zaino, it is an American polish / sealant, great stuff that will give just about the best protection you can get. www.zaino.com
As texstar says try a slightly more agressive polish to remove the existing marks but be aware that modern paint is very thin in places (just measured my Merc and it is VERY thin Shocked ) so make sure that you do not remove too much laquer.

I know a chap that does detailing good friends with him.

These are the sorts of things he specialises in. Took him 12 hours the other day to get a Bentley Continental GT free of swirl marks - does an amazing job.
He uses maguires or zaino.
Anyway he uses tiny slips of what look like transparent paper (almost like coloured OHP paper) and these are a specific thickness. The new mercs are one of the worst for paint thickness and with each proper clean/t-cut and wax ur taking 2-3 microns off the paint so with most new cars there is not a lot to play with. As you assume the cheaper the car the thinner the paint.
Rangeys I dont know but I'm sure that info's on the net.

Anyway if you want his number...he's expensive but does an amazing job pm me I'm more than happy to reccomend him. Michael Potter
