Moment of Truth: Sport or Discovery 3?

Hi Everyone,

This week I will be ordering the replacement to my 2005 Discovery TDV6 and even though I have never been let down by the Disco and it is so versatile.

But the Sport looks so much sexier Cool than the Disco so I am considering ordering a Sport, and I really like the interior in the Sport.

So I have asked the dealer in Melbourne Australia to supply two quotes one for Sport TDV6 with all the toys and a Disco HSE with all the toys.

My question to the group is: How do you find the interior and boot in the Sport, we are a one baby family with a horse box. I have no worries about the horse box as I know it will tow as well as the Disco, but what is it like to live with everyday.

I have to order my new car on Thursday.

Please help Question

Cheers,

Andrew

I own both a D3 and a RRS. The D3 is a great car especially if you need the space, the RRS is a far superior drive but the boot is a little disappointing but still adequate. I love the interior of the RRS and prefer it to the D3. Some say the fittings are a little cheap compared to Audi and BMW but I disagree. The driving position of the RRS is FANTASTIC! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Agree generally with VA. It all depends what you want from your car - the D3 is more versatile than the RRS, but the RRS is much more geared towards those who enjoy driving their cars I feel.

The driving position in the RRS is superb, probably the best of any car I've owned. I come from a long string of BMWs (and have moved back there after my RRS) and I do personally feel BMWs are put together a bit more solidly but that's not to say anything negative about the RRS. I'd happily own an RRS again - but I would either have to do less miles than I do now or have a fuel card to make it worthwhile. For 2000 miles/month motoring, even my TDV6 was costing me around £500/month to fuel.

I'm a one baby ( Thumbs Up ), one wife ( Big Cry ) family and the RRS suits us well.

We have a Bugaboo push chair that seems to take up about half the boot (without being able to pull the cover shut). Suppose I'm amazed at how much stuff you have to haul around for junior.

You might be interested to know that our Maxi Cosi child seat base (for 0-12 months) is fitted to the offside rear seat jiggles about a bit. We fixed that with a rubber mat from Mothercare that not only protects the leather from indentations but stops the baby seat movement.

I had a D3 TDv6 as a service car recently. I really disliked it as the interior as it is much more agricultural than the RRS (which in itself is below that of the FFRR). The engine is okay. Better than I thought (i have an SC) when compared to the same engine in the RRSport. 2022 P440e AB

United States 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Buckingham Blue

We just traded our LR3 in for a sport 2 months ago and with 2 kids, 1 car seat and the wife all in the car we find it surprisingly roomy. The LR3 was of course vast in the back but to be honest apart from putting kids bikes in the back we didnt use the space that much.

I am much happier with the sport (and its sexy look of course) its comfy and more "relaxing" to drive. We debated over a new FFRR or the Sport, but haven driven the supercharged sport vs the FFRR HSE the power won, even the wife is impressed and she has her own 4wheel rocket. D3`s (LR3's) and great and I would buy one again but for now the beauty and finess of the sport won this family over.

Paulo - you think it's bad now, wait for the 2nd one to come along. Then your whole set of back seats gets taken up by car seats and associated crap Wink

This is where the D3 comes in useful of course - you can still carry 4 adults along with your 2 kids, but the downside is that you have to drive a D3! Very Happy RRS + Vasectomy = Happy Whistle
