Which DVD set up ?

I still have time to make changes to my order ..... I'm considering the addition of DVD entertainment for the rear passengers, but not sure which is the best option. Has anyone had any experience of either set up?

Must say a system like this is very little value for money, you'll never use it yourself as you will be driving, and how many times a year do you take your children with you on a big trip where they get bored? For those times you can buy a cheap ass system from ebay and put it only in the vehicle when needed... Systems like this are cool, but from laro much to expensive...

Or is it to show off?

After having experience with my current set, which is mounted in the centre of the roof. As long as you realise that it obstructs rear vision when being used than the headrest set. But what do we have the two door mounted mirrors for.
I will be adding this to my own RRS in the centre of the roof after market which will included playstation 2 and Tv reception for less than the Land Rover unit.
As for usefulness its been great quiet kids on long journeys sat in macdonalds car park eating burgers you name it its always on.
On our last trip to Scotland I did not have to stop once or moan at the kids and nobody moaned at my choice of music all the way, they watched a dvd and listened through the headphones to the sound.

Utter Bliss. Worth the money just for the peace and quiet. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

I think your probably right. Also the more I look at the roof mounted set up, how on earth do you see anything in your rear view mirror? I have an after market in car DVD tablet..it works well but I was considering the fully fitted affair. But on reflection it's not been used that much. This maybe down to the fact that you could'nt see much when the roof was off the S4! And that reminds me ..... Where is the SUN

I bought mine from in car dvd now selling at £214 see link

Think of those of us following you and getting terribly distracted by the movie showing on the centre screen Laughing and go for the head restraint screens.
Don't know if any of you have followed a car with these screens playing at night, it is incredibly distracting having a flashing/ flickering screen right in your line of sight through the car infront. Sorry MDP, but i would say NO to the centre drop down screen! I followed a Ford Galaxy recently that had what I imagine the driver thought were heavily tinted rear and side windows and I'm sure that when I pulled up behind what I saw was a porno dvd showing on the seatback screens of the wagon...... Surprised
Those of you who have these things, can you play different channels on each screen with the head restraint screens? Or one being used for a movie and the other for Playstation/ Nintendo or whatever?

Not a problem with a Land Rover! Infact it's more fun when it rains, you can blast through floods with little concern, unlike an ordinary car!
Takes me back to my childhood and stamping in big puddles................. soooooooooooooooooo satisfying!!
Make sure there are no pedestrians about when you do it though........ an SUV driver was recently fined and got points for driving too fast into a very large puddle and soaking the people walking on the adjacent pavement. What a silly boy.

MDP.

Just a quick off topic question: is that the ivory or the alpaca leather?

I disagree, I think it's Alpacca, Ivory is very white looking, this looks more like the Sand leather in the RR L322.

With regards the DVD thing, I thought about it for mine and as Tim Holland says, it has limited uses. I will NEVER be sitting in the back on any journey, as I'll be driving it of course, and unfortunately the front screen does not play at the same time I believe. I also have ZERO enfants.

I have TV in motion in the M5 and that's the one main thing I am going to miss, not having TV. I use it so much, it's great for the carpark we all know called the M1, trundling along with BBC news on etc, or, Channel 4 and watching Friends, Raymond and King of Queens on my way to London, it's been brilliant.

I bet they add TV as an option about 3 minutes after I take delivery of mine...sneaky...... L319 D4 HSE

Roland , I'm sorry I don't know what colour the seats are in the RRS with headrest screens, but here is a link to the website where the car is advertised for sale it's a TDV6 with total spec:-

Just been looking through the brochure and I agree, it could well be Alpacca.
The reason I said it was Ivory before was because the cars I've seen with Alpacca in the past it was more like Tan than Linen!

Here is the seat trim page from my brochure

I am just back from a visit to the dealer this morning.

Actually my plan was to finalise everything and to place an order, but I am just not sure about what color/trim to choose and had to postpone for another couple of days, with the dealer (... a lady!!) being a bit Censored off.

As for the tan leather debate, they had one bonatti HSE with alpaca seats and I can confirm that alpaca is quite a lightish tan, much ligther than the alpaca in my current Disco, so MDP's photos have to be alpaca.

They had no RRS with the ivory but she showed me a Jag convertible with ivory leather and apparently both the Jag and RRS ivory are the same. The colors are actually very well rendered in the brochure. All other RRS in their showroom have ebony interiors.

I also wanted to see the quality of the non-premium leather of the SE specs, but they did not even order an SE for the showroom. I just feel that the ordinary leather might be a bit tougher and more workmanlike. Tim, is yours a SE or HSE?

Another major disappoinment was the fact the 20" Stormer wheel has been sold out as an accessory and cannot be ordered anymore. I cannot afford the Supercharged but like that alloys a lot. The lady had no clue whether this is just for the moment or for good. What's the story about the Stormer alloys in the UK? Can they still be ordered?

Thanks for your assistance, guys!
Roland

I'm sure the stormer wheels will come back, same story as the 20'' for the normal range rover in the beginning (check my sig).
Premium leather is a lot better than normal leather I must say...

Mine is an SE and the leather is very similar to what was in my SE RR, only in Aspen

No Roland I tried to when I changed the standard 18" twin spokes on the SE for the 10 spokes from the Disco3
