Nordschleife with a Range Rover Sport

As faithful reader of EVO magazine I could not think not to bring my RRS to the green hell. And I don't mean in its natural habitat, but on the north ring of the world's most famous circuit, testing ground of every car manufacturer to fine tune their new models..., including our beloved Queen. Within this month or by July at the latest I shall try my super speedy 2.7 tdv6 (he he) on the 20.8 km circuit... After all, if buses can do it, so can I. I bet I can stay under 11 minutes... And with my GY Eagle 255/50/19 (M+S) I should be fast even with morning frost on the tarmac. I am not kidding, I am definitely going and will push it to the max, I swear... Has anyone tried it yet? I wonder how will it feel to get smoked on both straights and twisties by Porsches, M3s, RS4s, etc., as their possessed drivers from all over Europe try to best their records? I will probably get the best use out of the car over the grassy fields inside the circuit, to check out the newbie drivers making their cars meow like cats... and causing lots of damage. All along, I will be sipping a good cup of tea in good (female) company, and after the ring I will head down to Route Napoleon (N85, joining Nice and Grenoble), previous home of ECOTY, which I tried 2 years ago with a Cayenne S (not mine) and last year with a CLK320cdi; But that's a different story.

Buses are no longer allowed on the circuit, thank goodness. The first time I went round, well....."imagine my suprise when coming out of a bend, to see a bus full of cheese-eating Dutch tourists taking photographs of the cars trying to avoid slamming into the back of them". Oh well, it could have been worse, the Dutch could have been going around towing their caravans (German readers will know what I mean!!!!) My father in law off-roaded his 7 series on the circuit with me in it .

A Dutchman without a caravan is like a ship without water. Have to say, I thought is was a fantastic idea to have the WWII German helmets made in orange plastic with Dutch flags on for the World Cup. The Germans I know were quite upset and could not understand why I thought it was funny and tried to buy one!
