I was on ebay yesterday and found a JCB telehandler for £1760 which is ridiculously cheap so i sent the guy an email through ebay asking for more details and to confirm the price. i then received an email not through ebay confirming the details, which you can see below. The item has now been removed from ebay and im not sure whether this is genuine or not

Would stay clear as seller seems to want all your information and have complete control of the transaction. If in doubt ask to see goods before bidding/buying and if he says no walk away. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

How did he get your non ebay email address ?

Your email address is sent every time you ask a question through ebay, unless you tick the little box underneath the question box.

Steer clear E... sounds a bit fishy to me.

My only other concern now is he has my email details and my company details because they are listed on my out going emails(they have to be by law now)

Do i need to worry, and should i report him to ebay

Did you ask the initial question through the 'ask the seller a question' box?
If you did then might be worth letting ebay know (not that they ever do anything) if you did it through an email link he had probably hijacked somebodys account anyway.

Sounds like all the information he got is already in the public domain.

As long as you didn't give him your bank details or click on a link embedded in his email you should be OK.

If anything strange starts to happen on your ebay account in terms of messages etc then just forward them straight to ebay 'spoof ' report.

And as the listing has already been removed, maybe they're onto him already.

Yes - all he has he could get from the net / phone book / companies house couldn't he...

Leave it alone E, it's clearly a scam to obtain your ebay account, paypal account or bank account details! Certainly report to ebay, although that may already have happened as it's now been removed.

It's all a big scam mate, I've had similar when trying to buy ridiculously cheap cars on ebay (ie 2006 BMW X5 £15k). They're exploiting human greed, assuming you'll release your personal details for an offer you cant refuse. If it emanates from abroad, bewrae or ignore it.

I've also had a variation where they offer to buy a car you're selling at full price to ship abroad.., all they need is YOUR bank details and address to make payment. Yeah, right.., bol*ocks!
