There is not a really secure method as even cash could be fake and the teller only realising after you had gone and your car too. I am sure the bank would then take it back out of your account.
The recent sale i conducted for £15.5k was done via 'CHAPS' transfer in one day.
My bank said this is confirmed transfer and cannot be withdrawn by the bank later unlike a BACS which can be.

I will always part ex my car in future as its not worth the hassle, not even for a couple of grand.

Could be true, but doing the transaction inside the bank reduces risk. CCTV for a photo of the guy, bank teller to check the notes are genuine. 2022 P440e AB

The problem is Paul that there are so many such fraud cases that the Polica now leave it to the Bank.
Can you see the police being interested that you have handed over your car for a case of duff notes.
The CCTV may be usefull but the police do not have enough resources.

My brother is in the Police fraud department and I know there is no safe way to hand over your car!!

I mean NO safe way.

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red

A mate of mine had his bike stolen from the entrance to a Halfords store (and it was a particularly expensive bike). He tells me that the police confirmed that the store's CCTV would probably show the thief taking the bike but they said they wouldn't review it because "all the thieves around here look basically the same so we would be none the wiser" !!!! RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini
