Can LR tell if it's been re-mapped?
Hi Folks
Been lurking around here for a few weeks while I debated buying a 12 month old 2.7 HSE. Great site and Im buying one after my test drive today.
I had a 2002 BMW 530D sport re mapped and the dealer didnt have a clue. I heard that the new 5's / BMW's notify the dealer of re-maps / chips but wonder if any of you know if the RRS do similar or will the dealer be in the dark when it's plugged into the diagnostics stuff?
It depends on which type of upgrade you have done, I think... some are visible, some are not.
One thing to watch out for is that if a dealer flashes your management systems as part of maintenance or to resolve a particular issue you have, you might have to have your upgrade re-applied. Forum sponsors, JE and Turbochip reapply in these instances for free I believe.

With the current dealer IDS system they cannot read out the contents of your ecu but that is about to change as LR are in discussions with a diagnostic company to provide a 'read out' ecu tool for 'expensive' warranty repairs claims so they can be challenged if required. I knew this chipping game was too good to last
