And by the time you have bought the spec of either an X5 or an ML up to the spec of an RRS HSE you are looking at £1000's more than you would pay for the RRS 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

10 years on the RRS I believe - I don't intend to be keeping my RRS for 25 years to be able to compare it to the Merc 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Your current Merc is the (Pardon me) crap old model (2.7CDi rattle box engine)

I too came down to a Merc ML320CDi SPort or RRS TDV6 HSE. Obvious which I chose!

Why? RRS.....

Looks much better
Engine much more refined
Air suspension std (Extra on Merc)
All the toys std (Mega bucks on Merc)
Unbelievably talented off road (Merc not so)

What do you drive? Oh I drive a Mercedes ML
What do you drive? Oh I drive a Range Rover Sport.... I know which one sounds better (Posing git that I am!)

Disadvantages?

Dealer service not always great but neither is Mercedes (I used to have a C320)
TDV6 is slower than admittedly quick Merc 320CDi but get the RRS chipped. Equal performance then and all the above benefits! Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Hi nask70,

The benefits I can see in going for it are:

    It's better looking
    Better build quality
It looks and feels much more solid
It has better styling (a personal opinion, however)
It works brilliantly off road (after all, that's what a 4x4 is all about)
It is more refined, quiet and comfortable
It has plenty of kit as standard.
A brilliant TDV6 engine from Jaguar
    Handles superbly on the road.
The RRSPORT network is better than any Merc forum Wink

The only drawbacks:

The Land Rover dealer network can be a bit iffy (although I have heard stories about Merc before)
Spec it carefully to avoid looking like a drug dealer Whistle

I'm more a Discovery 3 guy but I hope I can help too on the RRS side of things! "CY from DISCO3"
