Satnav/Traffic message Channel

Help!
Just got an RRS s/c, and trying to work all the toys out!
Does the TMC actually work? ie, alert you to upcoming traffic probs, route you around them on the satnav etc? Also is there an option to incorporate Smartnav (Trafficmaster), which gives active re-routing etc, plus alerts on speed cameras?
Any advice appreciated.

David

TMC,
Does work on a recent trrip to Scotland it performed very well and let us know of standing traffic at Shap and again just before Lesmahagow in Scotland itself.
I dont know about re-routing but I was under the impression that this does and can happen.

Welcome to the forum. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

On my recent trip to Ashford (to do my Landrover Experience) there were a numerous roadworks on the M20 and the navigation system routed me on a detour to avoid them - I chose to ignore them but it seems to work. No alerts about speed cameras though.

TMC will automatically give you messages if you have an address listed in your GPS and will probably give you an alternative route to avoid the delay. Otherwise it will show up on the map and you then press the appropriate icon on the screen which will then post further details of the pending delay. If you want GATSO/Speed camera details, then you will have to buy an appropriate unit as it is not available through the LR system. I’ve got an Origin B2 2 which works well.

Yes I think you have to have a route planned i.e. a destination you are heading for, if you are just viewing the map it can't take you on a detour (as it doesn't know where you are going) L319 D4 HSE

Guys,

Thanks for the welcome, and the advice.
The satnav on the RRS is much better than that on my 04 RR Td6 vogue.
I use an Origin B2 on that, so looks like I'll have to do the same on the RRS (more chance of it physically being possible to actually BE speeding!)

Regards

David
