Proble with diesel and car stop.

Googmorning to all, I would like to know if to someone of you owner of a RR sport 2,7 TD never is happening to have problems with fuel.To my father was happening to remain stopped on the freeway "in the evening" after 1 month from the withdrawal of car. the cause, according to the concessionaire, is from attributing to "the dirty" fuel that has damaged the pump of diesel. In the conclusion :stop of car for 3 weeks and pump replaced obviously in guarantee. The council that the responsible of the "conce" has given has been that one to always make refueling to a station of confidence service, to me what seems one much strange one, also why if you outside go to the foreign country or city as you make to sure being of the used fuel. Sincerely I have of the serious doubts on the causes of this problem and would like to know if it has been happen also to someone of you and in that way has been resolved. Thanks a lot and sorry for my English. Confused

Hi Mav
Sorry to hear that but is is common over here.
I can't comment on anywhere in Europe but these high pressure common rail Diesel systems are having big trouble on all makes of car.
The main problem is the high pressure delivery pump or the injectors.
If they were run on all clean fuel we would have no problem but the fuel contamination is causing hell over here.
All the re-man people who cover the Diesel parts are having a large increase.
I stripped a pump down yesterday to evaluate it for a re-man programme here. If it was run on clean fuel the way it is designed it would be no problem but the contamination is causing the failure, dirt, water, chemicals, etc.
As VA said most of our fuel is clean but there are still problem areas.
Its the luck of the draw at the min. When you fill it up cross your fingers.
The problem will start when the vehicle leaves the warranty period because the cost of the parts to repair/replace is very expensive.
Thumbs Up You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

Maverik, we don't tend to have to many problems over here providing that people are using the correct fuel, we
we do have two types of fuel, road fuel (white diesel) and non road fuel(red diesel) the red diesel has a different tax on it making it a lot cheaper, but it isn't as refined as the white diesel.

There are a lot of less scrupulous drivers in this country who use red diesel in there cars and then wonder why they are having problems with there injection systems. some of my Previous cars

Hy Envoy, sure will be as you say,in your cauntry, but in my cauntry Italy we have only 1 Diesel. So I think that is not normal for a car with a price over 50.000 EURO to have this kind oh problem.
This is the reason.

I think you are right Maverik, with all the filtration systems on the sport i would of thought that it would of filtered any impurities, if any in the diesel before it caused a problem, just IMHO some of my Previous cars

Well to be fair the LR brand are better than most at coping with it,
The Citroen/Peugeot Renault and BMW just to name a few are breaking down real bad.
The Peugeot problem has become so bad that they are thinking of only selling the pump as a kit now. The kit will include a new fuel tank to erradicate the contamination.
As for the RRS time will tell when you have 60k up Envoy Neutral You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.
