I’ve seen them take the engine out of a Discovery with the body on but the front of the Sport looks smaller so I was just wondering if it was possible. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

In general you cannot do anything on these trucks without a 2 post lift Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

We've got a 4 post ramp in our workshop at home which has seen me rebuild a couple of L322's. One of which was an 8 month project and wasn't too bad to do. A 2 post would have been easier.

If you can lift the body it will make it so much easier because you will find chassis work and oily side jobs much easier with body off they say 2 hrs Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

That's a good point actually. My wife is really taken by this one so it's likely to be a long term keeper so doing all of the "whilst I'm in there" jobs with the body off would make perfect sense.

It's possible to remove the engine from the front, but you need to remove the sump to allow clearance over the diff. If you've got access to a lift then I'd lift the body off, if not, from the front with a crane. |

If it can be done on a disco3 (which it can), then it can be done on a sport.

Rad pack and slam panel off, if the body is staying on |

I'd be tempted to take the body off and then you have easy access to everything else that you can inspect and change easily e.g. fixed brake lines, suspension components, etc.. It's apparently a couple of hours to remove the body so not that big a deal compared to trying to fiddle the engine out and back in, I'd have thought.

I was thinking that tonight as I towed it home. Makes sense to give it all a good going over to ensure it's not going to let us down, well, not straight away anyway |
