United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 Autobiography Stornoway Grey
Rear heated screen

Hello,

I have a 2010 Autobiography Sport, whereby originally the rear heated tinted screen was dead.

I had no choice to cut the original connector off and make good with a pair of female/male spade connectors, which did the job nicely.

Then comes the next problem, I have broken heated elements in succession, probably about 9 in total.

I work in the aerospace industry and have used some silver content paint to try to bridge the gaps, albeit very small to make good the connection. This is a ball ache in itself and not always works, so you try again.

There’s me thinking the rear replacement screen would be reasonably priced, it’s priced at £2000 or there abouts from Land Rover, and the likes of glass replacement companies (pilkington included) don’t have stock.

It’s doing my head in, especially this weather with them not working so well, there’s a double band of lines that don’t work and the reason being that the element has disintegrated and fallen away in the most of minute of areas, almost impossible to mask up and paint.

Can anyone help?

Ideally looking to get a new replacement screen or would be happy to buy a 100% working screen from someone breaking a 2010 on Sport.

I’m a bit apprehensive about doing the insurance claim, whoops, as I think a £2k claim might write the car off or cost me a bundle with my no claims.

Can anyone help or has a screen that’s working or can help locate a new tinted screen at a reasonable price.

Cheers in advance

Dean

Remember using the silver on a van.

Looked a right mess.

How about a second hand tailgate in colour?

May was to collect to avoid damage

A glass claim doesn’t affect your insurance. Try calling Autoglass and see what they say.
