Battery Confusion (i don't even have start stop)

Ive had my 2010 L320 RRS now for 6 months or so, previously Discovery so used to similar issues I might get with the RRS, I love it, it’s great! It complains now and then with suspension errors and the heating does not work anymore, I have an iCarsoft from my discovery days so I can use that.

The thing is after a longish journey a “gearbox” error showed up and then on restarting disappeared. After reading many many threads and forums I stumbled across a “poor battery” could cause many issues that I was having. After testing the battery it needs replacing and only holds just 11v. I went to find out what battery it needed and I was offered a start stop at £270 and a normal at £150, thats quite a difference considering it doesn't even have start stop. The battery that is in is start stop, but why?

Anyway I purchased the normal 019 battery which I am hoping will solve all my gremlins, including the climate control.

I can only hope I guess

Seems to me that whoever is calling batteries stop/start really means they are AGM batteries 2015 L494 SDV6 3.0 HSE Loire Blue

As the car is 14 years old very unlikely it still has the original battery fitted and someone replaced it with a AGM type battery, as I think you may find L/R started fitting AGM type from the factory around 2011/12 on the diesel vehicles not petrol version though. Although I did fit a Varta AGM battery to mine which is also described as stop/start, although it was not necessarily a requirement for a AGM it has lasted 8 years so far.

Cheers

Worth checking the alternator is ok, too. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
