To reduce the influence of the chassis's movement on the cabin.

It's all part of the NVH regime designed to enhance the experience of the people in the cabin.

If you're thinking of taking them out, do let any new owner know that you've ruined the car. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yet they were never fitted to D3, and in most cases, when the front dampers are removed, there is no requirement to refit them

Different chassis length and different bushes/dampers meaning different harmonics, D_M?

That folk didn't notice much difference probably says more about the sensibilities of NVH engineers vs customers. Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

They actually stopped fitting the front ones from the factory, unless they forgot to fit them to mine when they built it. Rolling with laughter

Cheers
