United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 Autobiography Stornoway Grey
Choice of diesel - regular with additive or premium

Hello,

Quick question what brand of diesel or type of diesel to you let your Range Rover Sports drink?

Mine is the 3.6 TDV8 and so far I’ve used Shell nitro plus, but it’s god damn expensive, regular BP and Esso with Wynns turbo/injector cleaner for a few tank fulls.

I’ve tended to always put Shell nitro plus in my Fabia vRS which was mapped and it ran really well and seemed to drive and respond better, but the car isn’t as thirsty and does on average 50/60 mpg.

The Range Rover is a different breed, with fuel economy being the front runner.

I was thinking regular diesel from Esso/BP with Millers EcoMax additive, but then again as most will say that all fuels come from the same refinery’s and have their own additive put in at the forecourt.

So thinking about that, I could use Tesco regular diesel and Millers EcoMax additive and get my club card points, with the amount of fuel Tesco buy and sell, it won’t hand around sitting in their tanks, so should be up to spec.

What’s everyone’s thoughts and preference and real time experiences? It would be interesting to see everyone’s view point, feedback and mix/ratio of what additive they use and the benefits of any they have seen.

Thanks in advance

Dean

When I run Shell here I’m always underwhelmed with the performance and mileage. I get regular diesel at a cheap station near the house that my 3.0 runs really well on. On occasion I run a bottle of Techron Diesel through it, but nothing else. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

I use Costco Premium in my 3.6 TDV8. Cheaper than regular diesel anywhere else and does a good job.

My tdv8 ran fine for years on regular diesel, but last spring started misfiring. Since then I’ve run it on super diesel and the misfire has gone away, few quid extra per tank is much cheaper than a set of injectors.

Archoil for me

I use supermarket diesel all the time.
However
I add Archoil to every fill Ar D 69000
Also the once per year Ar D 6400.

Some say its smoke and mirrors. My disco 3 I sold with 285k on the clock 3 years ago still going strong.
Same engine and gearbox.

So I am biassed, and swear by it.

I've always used Tesco fuel without any problems.

I just bung in some additive a month before the MOT is due . . .

Supermarket diesel here. Used to mess around with the super premium stuff from Shell/BP in the old TDV8 for a while but found no difference when I changed back to normal diesel from supermarkets.

Current SDV6 is run on supermarket stuff and is on 160k miles so far... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Last 500k miles or so in a variety of diesels have been cheapest supermarket or Costco. Never had a fuel related problem. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

used our local Texaco for petrol, had a contaminated batch of fuel, They told us the fuel was supplied by a differnt company,to which we had to claim from them, they also supply Morrisons fuel, as they also had the same batch of contaminated fuel.

Er, if you buy your fuel from Texaco and there's a problem with it, you beef is with Texaco, not the supplying third party. Your contract is with Texaco, not the third party. Texaco have to chase the their supplier, it's not your job to do so. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I can completly assure you,Texaco completly wiped their hands of it, even told us in the station it had nothing to do with them.we were paid out by the third party. To be honest it was pretty straight forward and they accepted liability. They paid us £450 of the £500 claim we put in.

Oh, if your so sure about their liability, tell that to the hundreds of people that were involved, I’m sure they’d appreciate your advice ! Big Cry

Wow. I'm amazed the third party paid out but well done for getting most of it back from them.

Looks like the sort of thing that the courts ought to be looking at - Texaco shouldn't just be able to wash their hands of something they sold to a customer. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
