Brake Disc and Carbon / Upgraded Pad Recommendations

Looking at Brit’s part slotted and grooved discs or something from Febi (non slotted), interested if people have run either for a while (or anything else praise worthy) and have feedback?
Fitted brembo discs and pads onto my last car (Jeep WK2) shortly before a muppet ploughed into me writing it off, wasn’t impressed with the brembo’s pads felt worse than standard (hence not a contender)

In terms of pads wanting carbon pads with decent bite, my current ones chuck out dark cherry coloured residue for fun. I’ve run Wagner’s carbon pads on an XC60 they were witchcraft in terms of brake dust but didn’t have the reassuring bite I’m looking for. My car has the 360mm brembo’s up front for context.
Current thinking = Akebono ultra premium, terra firma or TRW (not sure if carbotech make them off the shelf)

Incidentally I’m having the discs centres blasted and properly painted because I can’t stand them rusty behind the alloys purchasing unpainted (like Brit Part) isn’t an issue

I recall a forum member used to run his on EBC green stuff pads due to dust being an issue for him. Not sure on his driving style tho..

Watch out with carbon pads no heat means no breaks had them on my GSXR600 killer when cold but absolutely a beast when hot…

Yes hadn’t dismissed EBC they’re ever present in the market, a little pricey relative to the brands I’d quoted hence wondering if terra firma etc were ok. Heard mixed comments on EBC which could be outdated or urban myth.
To clarify i didn’t mean pure carbon from recollection a lot are high in carbon with reduced dust. I’m not looking for extreme road flavours just enhanced bite and security in the peddle for pulling up from motor way speeds and downhill sections of dual carriageway into repeated roundabouts where you feel all that mass loaded up with kit.

I have used Powerstop Z3 carbon ceramic pads on my Range Rover Sport for a couple of years & was pleased with them. No dust & good performance. Car now sold, but just ordered them for my Range Rover Fifty. I also have them fitted to my Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe (600bhp)

Black diamond are another brand that cropped up last night 🤦🏻

Go to Powerstop site, select the pads for your car then they show a list of suppliers, Pick ROCKAUTO. They are very helpful, if you have any questions, they will answer almost by return. Also if buying they give three ways you want them sent. Up to you to pick one. Delivery in about a week. Usual American thinking that the customer is king. I ordered a set for my Range Rover Fifty on Sunday, I picked cheapest delivery, FedX & will get them by the 28th Oct, but going by past experiences, it will be earlier
Pick the z3 option, they are upgraded road pads
If you have Brembo discs the numbers will be Z3 1426 & Z3 1692, but be sure to verify these are correct for you. They come with everything, pads, rubber boots, spring clips, lube grease. Only thing you need is a new wear sensor. They can supply them but I usually just get them locally from Eurocar Parts Range Rover Sport (gone): Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe: 992 Porsche Carrera 4S: Range Rover Fifty P400e

Lovely job, thank you 👍 I’ve got brembo’s but they’re only 4 pot in 360mm sadly. Not sure if you’ve quite the big boy brembo’s I can check with Rick Auto. Think I may have used them years ago for parts they were highly recommended by the Volvo community many years ago

Are you sure you have 4 pot brembo's on a L494 or has someone retro fitted them? as thought L/R dropped the 4 pots as fitted to the TDV8's when the introduced the facelift L320, but could well be wrong and stand to be corrected. I have run EBC disc's and pads all round on my old 5.0L s/c for a few year's and never had any issues.

Cheers Col, here’s my calipers zero idea if they’re 4 pot or not, I’m making the assumption based on other posts mentioning 380mm discs are 6 pot and 360mm were 4 pots. No idea if that’s a fair generalisation or technically accurate. I wasn’t criticising EBC Jonny Smith’s happy to endorse them which says something just never used them personally and heard mixed comments. From the look of rock auto the power stops are cheaper depending on taxes and shipping costs

The Powerstops even including shipping etc are very good value
Looking at your picture they look like 6 piston callipers. See the 3 raised semi circles, that's where the pistons are. One in centre & one either side Range Rover Sport (gone): Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe: 992 Porsche Carrera 4S: Range Rover Fifty P400e

Hi, yes I hadn’t taken the time to study the composition of the calipers, it makes sense. They’re certainly substantial relative to the overall disc size. Does that mean they’re the same callipers as the 380mm offering? I did wonder if there’s brackets to adapt the caliper placement to allow the larger discs but quite possibly making life more difficult than it needs to be. The pad part numbers on rock auto were definitely different to your items. Also they appear to be Z23’s (evolution sport) not the Z3’s referenced, unless that was a typo?
