Do L461 wheels fit on L494

Does anyone know of the new L461(MY22+) sport wheels will fit on the L494(MY14-21)?

I am considering replacing my 20" wheels with new 21" wheels. The tyre size is different, but on checking the difference would be when doing 30mph, it would actually be 29.67mph. So not worried about that.

Just wanting to know if anyone knew if the stud pattern and offset were still the same?

Many thanks, Kenny Current - 2020 Range Rover Sport P400e

Hi,

I think the answer is….NO!

L494 uses studs and nuts to secure the wheels, L461 uses holes and bolts so the wheel is different around the fixings, even if the hole spacing and offset were to be the same.

L461 wheels DO fit on L494. I bought a set of 21" wheels from a from a 2024MY RR Sport. They were matt grey so I had them stripped back, powder coated in gloss grey and then the faces diamond cut.

Hi,

They may “fit” but the mechanical fasteners are different.

The L494 uses tapered nuts, the L461 uses flat faced bolts!

Have you found adapter fixings?

Personally, I wouldn’t do it and “Have you told your insurer?”

They fit, the nuts are torqued up correctly, the car drives perfectly for the last 1,000 miles. And no, I have not told the insurance. Did you tell the insurance about all the factory optional extras that are fitted to your car? No, nobody does. Current - 2020 Range Rover Sport P400e

Hi,

You don’t have to tell the insurance about OEM or factory options.

Yes, the patriot roofrack, spotlights, winch bumper and X9 winch on my Defender are declared to my insurance and photos supplied too!

Changes of wheels, body modifications, wraps etc ARE supposed to be declared. Check your “statement of facts” on your proposal form!

Online search:- If the wheels are from the manufacturer, they should be no issue in any way as long as they have been type approved for that vehicle.

L461 wheels are not “Type approved” for the L494!

The wheel nuts on a L494 may well have a taper on them the same as the L320, but it does not locate the wheel, as the wheels are spigot mounted the same as most L/R vehicles the nuts just retain the wheel on the vehicle using the flat faced rotating washer attached to the nut , provided the spigot dia. is the same and the shoulder on the nut locates in the rim snugly to prevent any rotary movement would think they should be o.k. when torqued up.

Cheers
Col

Hi Sterling,

If that sanctemonious comment is directed at me - thanks.

As a Chartered Engineer, I’d like to think I know what I’m talking about.

I’m also glad I’m in Somerset, a long way from any potential issues with this vain attempt to change a well engineered vehicle.

Just because people point out the folly of your actions which have the potential to cause problems does not make it ‘twaddle”

Regards

@Scrumps, it’s fair to explain this’s to us.
Thanks.

Let me add to this. Many wheels can „fit“ on a car, but key is matching the spec's.
The difference between the wheel’s setup is not minor:

L494 9,5J x 21, offset: 49
L461 8,5J x 21, offset: 43,5

@Sterling01, I would not recommend it, but stylewise I like the look of those wheels a lot on your car.
