Correct tyre pressures

Ive fitted 265x50x20's to my L320
Currently running on 40psi and the ride is fine, is there a more suitable pressure recommended ?

What it says on the door would probably be best.

there is a label on the inside of the drivers door.

Check the pressure against your tyre size.
The pressures nearer the top are for light load and will be more comfortable

That tyre size was never a option on the L320 so won't be listen on the door label, but personaly I run 33 front and 36 rear as suggested on 275/45 x 21" and works ok for me.

Yes., the tyre size isnt included on the door matrix.

Very few people take their RRS off road these days (there used to be a few more on here but they've drifted away over time).

I've never bothered changing tyre pressure when going off road. The traditional idea of reducing pressures (airing down) isn't feasible with the relatively short sidewalls on the tyres that fit on the RRS. You'd risk sidewall pinching if you dropped them low enough to make any difference to the contact patch. There is a school of thought that you're better to increase air pressure in order to keep the sidewall more rigid so that you don't get pinching on roots/rocks. A chap did a rocky route in South Africa and did just that with his Disco 4 tyres.

For the stuff I've done (admittedly none of it extreme in any sense), I've just run my normal road pressures. I do generally run my tyres a couple of psi higher than the door card because I run 255/55/19 and find they wear better with a touch more air (the vehicle is designed for 255/50/19 (or 20inch equivalent). I've never been stuck (close a couple of times when on my own on muddy farmland but both times self-recovered just by using the rock back-and-forward technique) so it seems to work so far. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
