Had exactly the same this afternoon. Aircon was fully re-gassed a month or so ago and held a vacuum for 20mins before being pressurised.

You could try a hose clamp on the drivers side under the bonnet.

When was it last re-gassed? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Condenser is a prime candidate,, happened on mine,, they have a habit of corroding along the bottom edge. Pulling a vacuum for 20 mins is not a good test. Re-gas with a dye and any leaks will be easier to spot, also make sure it is filled to the correct charge or it will never work correctly. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I could try clamping off the "heater" hose but have not got a clue which one it is.

Compressor is easy enough to check and rules out a major part of the system,, you should be able to hear or see the clutch pulling in when your assistant switches the AC on. Even a small leak will empty the system in days 2010 RRS, TDV8

These are variable compressors. So you don’t hear them click in and out.

It looks like the compressor is faulty, so wallet prepared for emptying. |

Mine’s a new condenser, £100 plus £30 regas at the local National Tyres. Worth investigating a used compressor ? Plenty around on eBay |
