Handover day checks on a L461

I should hopefully be collecting my new D300 Dynamic SE this weekend coming, what specific checks should I make sure I carry out on this model at handover? I have read up on the fuel flap issue, are there any other known issues I need to be aware off?

Any feedback or advice is appreciated.

Confirmation of collection of the car on Saturday morning, any advice on what to double check at handover?

Dealer handed me one key ……….then gave me a box with the other one in after I questioned!

Asked about the locking wheel nut…..said it’s in the boot, not in the boot. I don’t think it’s wearing any, unbelievable on a car at this value.

In true Land Rover fashion the Pivi pro froze after 10miles, completely unresponsive to taps, was working the next day, thankfully.

They pumps the tyres upto 42psi, the recommended is 36? If I recall correctly.

Just give it the once over, and enjoy the drive 👍🏻

Just the usual then! I’ve had similar issues in the past with brand new sports, some sales guys are simple, we know more about their cars! I had to tell mine yesterday how to sort out the insurance discount after discussing it with LR insurance, really simple if you just communicate with people!

Looking forward to getting it now, my old one went back to lease co today.

Jorosa just checked the online brochure, they all have locking wheelnuts as standard, you maybe better double check the boot etc or the dimwit who pdi’d yours must have it in his toolbox or lost it! I had this on my new 494 in 2016, they wanted to chisel them off as JLR had just got a new supplier and none of the dealers yet had master sets, took months to sort out!

I’d get onto them & chase it down.

Yeah agreed, ours was just a young lad that has a lot to learn.

I naively expected a better level of service when dropping this amount of moolah, felt like I was buying supermini! Calls not returned, kept in the dark about progress. On a transporter that apparently took two days to get from Solihull to Lincoln 🤣 not sure there’s going to be a transporter with such high value cargo overnighting at the side of the road!

My wife said after the test drive I know more about these cars than he does!

Just had a look and took off the black plastic caps with a 24mm socket and definitely got locking wheel nuts!

Going to ring the dealer tomorrow……

All,

Just to be clear, on L461 the wheels are secured with…..bolts!

They have crappy little black plastic covers that require a set of (supplied) plastic tweezers to remove.

I took mine off on day one to seal the wheels and then went out and bought a pack of ten new nut covers as the lips the tweezers attach to appear to be make of cheese!

One other thing to check is the toolkit in the boot. It is supplied to the dealer in a shrink pack and has to be transferred to the polystyrene storage in the boot - my towing eye was missing (now a TIB I believe).

Scrumps, thanks for the info, so I’ve seen the rear of my car through the compound fence when passing the dealership this week after hours, the fuel flap looks a good fit and so do the boot lid gaps, I’ll check the toolkit etc is correct, what else do I check for in your opinion at handover?

If my MY23 were being replaced with a new MY24, I'd be checking the following:

- Petrol/charging flap fit
- Wind noise above 50mph (mine's booked in to be checked in a couple of weeks)
- Pivi Pro updates (there seem to be a few reports of these not coming through on MY24 cars)
- Creaky suspension in access mode (mine's just started doing that now, coming up to 1 year old)

Anyway, you can't beat new car day... enjoy! 2023 P440e Dynamic SE

M13lky,

If you’ve had accessories fitted (deployable side steps, mudflaps, mats) - check they are fitted correctly!

Mudflaps, especially the front ones are quite involved to fit, lower wing trim has to be removed and refitted, wheelarch liner has to be removed so a bracket can be fitted behind it, holes for bolts have to be drilled in the under tray for the lower rear bolt to be inserted ( into the bracket behind the arch liner).

I think the Saturday lad did mine - spotted when I took the wheels off to seal them with Gtechniq C5.
