Nevermind the styling, with this new linked hydraulic system, the handling will be mega!

"... making its debut on the SV is a linked hydraulic system. Unlike other hydraulic damping set-ups such as those on McLarens, the unit isn’t just diagonally linked across the car but also directly linked left-right, and front-rear, to help contain both pitch and roll movements.

As a result, there are no mechanical anti-roll bars and, says Special Vehicles, the system is incredibly powerful. An active 48V mechanical anti-roll bar system is claimed to be able to put a total force of 1600Nm into roll control.

This system can effectively put 2300Nm into roll control and 4000Nm into pitch control. JLR says the SV can pull 1.1g laterally, at which point it only has 3.5-4deg of lean. “In order to generate that speaks some chassis magic,” said Special Vehicles director Jamal Hameedi, particularly given it is a figure quoted on all-season tyres. ..." --

That would be a great system off road, too, but I doubt it would ever make it on to the "normal" versions. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Spoke to my dealer about these SV’s. LR declined many of the first names put forward for the first slots. As it is these are £160k & with carbon bits the first orders submitted we’re coming in at £190k+ Shocked

Anyway, these are First Editions, are there going to be ‘regular’ SV’s at a lower price point or are LR moving SVR’s up fm £100k to £160k from now. Seems a lot for a car that looks no different to the regular RRS.

As I understand it, Edition One is a test bed for the price point. The ‘regular’ SV L461 is likely to be in the region of £150k ‘basic’.

Indeed the loaded Carbon Bronze cars are £190k+.

I read that the bonnet vents are fake. That's disappointing. LR are going for this "reductive" design language but still fit fake vents on the bonnet.

Otherwise, it's obviously entirely road focused with that front splitter. Why not make it even lighter in that case? Must be able to remove weight that's only there for the off road ability. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Amazing! Are you able to choose between the three or are you allocated a particular one? Is there much customisation available?

The L461 is heavier than the L494 in every trim. I agree, they missed an opportunity to carry over the bonnet vents from the L494. There is still something too bulbous about the new shape for me but the RRS SV at least gets me closer to appreciating the new shape compared to the L494 SVR. 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE

Do the earlier SVRs have the same tyre size all round? This new one has wider rear tyres than front:

Quote:
Whereas the previous SVR came with regular ‘summer’ tyres as standard, here the factory-fit tyres are all-season Michelin Pilot Sport 4s – 285/40 R23s at the front and 305/35 R23s at the rear.

As well as off-road modes, there are different road-focused drive modes, including SV, which brings a further 15mm suspension drop. There’s also an electronically controlled rear differential (at times in sporty modes, the SV is effectively rear driven) and active rear steer as standard.

Interesting that it's going to be RWD when in a special road mode. I wonder if it brings the fronts back in if it's a slippery / DSC kicks in. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
