Suspension problem

I Bought a new Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE from Stratstone in Cardiff. After a few months the Suspension developed a problem. When driving for no reason the lights would come on the dashboard, and tell me to slow down and the suspension would drop down to the Bump stops.
The Vehicle was towed in to be repaired not once but Five times after i was told the vehicle was safe to drive by Stratstone. Twice this vehicle nearly killed me.. Once on the motorway doing 80mph then the suspension dropped and blew my back tyres out.. and once in a country lane because once the suspension drops if you dont slow down quick enough, you have no control over the Vehicle. After all these problems Stratstone still refused to give me a new Vehicle, But again after having it in for 6 Weeks and telling me they had found the problem it failed again but this time infront of there own showroom, I never even got out of the yard. Thats where it as stayed . i am now taking them to court to get my money back.. SO BEWARE Twisted Evil

Sorry to hear of your problems. Did you ever contact LR Customer Services? It makes things a bit easier in cases like this. Changing dealer to a competant one can also work miracles in your experience with the car.

Hope you get it sorted!

Shocked

Cold comfort, but I suppose the legal process just needs to complete... be interesting to hear what transpires in the end.

Hi Leo
Yes Did contact LR customer services.. What a waste of time.. I spoke to them about eight times. They told me because they could not find the fault. and i refused to drive the vehicle, there was nothing they could do.

Also took it to another dealer who tried to repair it. But they give up and told me it was like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. There computer kept saying there was nothing wrong with it even though it dropped in front of them.
I think its going to look really bad for them in court. When they say..! YES we had the car for Six weeks. We had two different Dealers look at the vehicle and Could not find a problem.. BUT when he came to pick it back up. It collapsed on the forcourt in front of us Laughing

Well Done Stratstone. (Bunch of Idiots) Very Happy

Hmmm... Absolutely agree LR customer service hotline is absolutely useless... Twisted Evil You spent hours talking to them and they tell you only lot of crap...

Never the less, I have just remembered. I have heard of a similar problem on older VOGUEs (make 2002), which have been drive harsh. However it occurred only on the front axle. As far as I know, they always had to exchange the cushions on either side...
I will try to get in touch with the guys back in Slovakia and find out more. Hope that might help...

Hope you get it sorted - these things can go either way and i doubt they'll be shouting about your positive points and more likely how many times it came it hampered by your unwillingness to drive etc etc - have your considered a final out of court settlement??
Good luck Confused

Either the air springs are at fault or there is some damage to the suspension components.

Get the dealer to check the 'Vehicle Dynamic Suspension'.
Did they recaliberate the suspension system the last time you were there?

What's happening to you is totally unacceptable! Mad Malaysia Boleh!

Hi Bobby
Yes they did recaliberate the suspension. Also Changed Air sensors and renewed wiring. And every time it failed they came up with a different reason. Like i said Five times it failed on me when driving. By the fourth time i had lost all faith in the vehicle and did not drive over fifty in it, and i was constantly watching the dash waiting for it to fail. and true to form it did. On the last time it went in the dealer principle phoned me and gave me a personal gaurantee that they had found and fixed the problem after me refusing to take the vehicle back. I told him i will give it one more try. I went to pick it up and it dropped in front of them as he was waving good bye. You can imagine what i said. He even had the cheek to phone me up a few days later to tell me they found another problem with it. could i give it another go. I Said FxxK off.. I will see you in court.. And to Censored me off even more they are charging me for storage Rolling with laughter

Banging Head What is LR coming to? Evil or Very Mad
Surely there is more they can do. Such arrogance!!

I totally agree with you being Censored off. I would have gone a little further by carrying a big stick when I go to the dealers! Twisted Evil

Hope you take strong action against them and make them pay! Let us know how we can help. Malaysia Boleh!

Having exactly the same problem with my 2008 RR Sport. The air suspension failed on Dec 26th and failed again on friday when the car was doing 70mph. The local dealership in aberdeen have been a waste of time and after discussions with landrover about the way the service manager spoke to me, have transported the car to another dealership some 60 miles away.
A mates RR Sport suffered the same failure last monday and he has decided to get rid asap regardless of the hit he will take in a trade in.

My patience with the car is starting to wear thin as i feel the next time this happens it may well result in an accident. Depending how i get on with Landrover customer services I may well resort to legal action as per S4 Lads post.

What about a managed approach to the press on this - if there is a 'trend' out there that will be the last thing LR want or need? Is there benefit in CHPR taking up any of these causes??

My reasoning is not to damage LR but to get results - might it be in a certain dealers interest to push this cause? I am not saying it is or might be but it if it were then two parties could benefit ....

Rolling Eyes

what do i know though Very Happy
