How to DIY that LUMMA sound?

Hi all. One of my neighbours came cruising, at like 80-100kmh, past me in a 5.0SC LUMMA a while back and the exhaust note was just incredible. It had this deep, but not loud or shouty V8 drum beat note.

My SC came with the cats deleted and the rear mufflers already worn out so it was obnoxiously loud outside. What sold the wife on it was that one could actually hear it from the inside vs the cars we test drove with the cats still installed.

After annoying my neighbours for a while with the cold start I installed a resonator on each pipe where the cats had been which helped a lot but it's still pretty noisy especially at highway speeds where I'm just wanting to relax with a podcast.

I've been looking at the Varex exhaust boxes that are variable and use a smartphone app to create profiles and plug into the OBD to read the revs. That way if I'm just pulling out of my garage I don't have to let the neighbours know but if I put foot it'll open the valve and wake everyone up. Any opinions on that brand would be appreciated.
I'm considering installing the single varex with two pipes where the snail shell box is and then replacing the end boxes with generic ones from an exhaust shop.

To get to my title question. What are the technical aspects of an exhaust that creates that deep rumble without it being raspy or throaty?
Pipe diameter? Muffler capacity?
Currently when I put foot I find the exhaust note to be too high and also a bit raspy. Granted, the worn out rear boxes probably cause some of that.

The snail shell box is now also rattling so it's time to replace things and I want to get it right first time..

Any advice would be appreciated!

There must be some tuning shops in Salt River that can sort you out ?

I've been to supaflow but the input was lacking. There are a few racing/performance shops around, I just don't have a clue where to start/who is dodgy and that seems like a lot of legwork. I'd rather do the research, buy the hardware and have any exhaust place do the install.

Off topic, but is your moniker 308 GT4 related ? I saw a very nice one in the classic car garage that used to be at the bottom of what was De Vaal Drive about 30yrs ago. Not sure if the garage is still there, but haven’t been to CT for 13yrs.

My old man used to live in Rondebosch and it’s a second home to me.

Negatory. It's just a handle I've used since the early days of the internets.

Bob, I've done the resonator & centre silencer delete with straight pipes, and it sounds lekker. It was a cheap mod from Powerflow, but X- or H- pipes would better.

Thanks Naks!

Do you still have the cats? Or something in their place?

But otherwise thanks for the vids, that helps, sounds a lot like mine and not what I'm looking for. Seems I'm going to have to spend on some end mufflers than have fancy fibres in them to get that subdued drumbeat that the LUMMA exhaust puts out.

Yes, the cats are still in, we didn't touch these so as not to mess with the O2 sensors. --
