Another mpg thread, sorry.

Another mpg thread to look at please. I regularly put in 50gbp of diesel into my 2.7 sport and get a return of around 160 miles for it. Most of my journeys are to and from work, like most of us I imagine. 4.3 miles each way.
Can anyone work out my mpg accurately ish please.
Paid 155 per litre last time.
Thanks in advance.

£50/£1.55 = 32.25 litres

4.55 litres per gallon, so 32.25/4.55 = 7 gallons.

160 miles/7 gallons = 22.85 mpg

My dad had us doing these calcs in our head when we were young and on road trips around the UK, before litres came in. I’ve carried it on with my 11yr old and he has to convert litres to gallons Laughing

Keeps him busy on the school run.

That was quick, cheers. Some good maths/logic there.
I reckon that's not too bad for around the doors for a 2.7....or is it ?

Beats my old 4.2 by quite a bit - waiting to see what my new 3.6 tdv8 does.

Hmmmm.......getting just over 19mpg in my 4.2 SC but thats a 45 mile commute one way once a week, (i work away from home all week)
Also i sit at around 67mph on the cruise on the motorway and just let it do it's thing so i'm pretty gentle with it
I'd expect a bit more with your 2.7TD but as you say it's quite a short commute and maybe stop/start in urban area so???????
My old 2.7TD used to do around 30mpg on the same commute Wink 2015 L494 SDV6 3.0 HSE Loire Blue

I have been doing very similar mileage for the last 6 years
in my 2012 3.0 Diesel, and Fuelly has me at 21.8 mpg average,
I have noticed its about 2.5 worse than the onboard computer

My old 09 plate TDV8 used to average around 24/25 mpg, bit more on a long run, my 5.0L s/c about 15 mpg average, even less if driven properly. Rolling with laughter

Don't believe a word the Lie'O'meter says on the dash, if anybody believes that they will believe anything. Very Happy

Cheers
