Thanks TJ. So, there IS some rust? Interesting, because there DOES appear to be a definite link between surface rust or decay and off-roading. Conversely, me and Envoy haven't been off-roading and NO signs of rust whatsoever!

Be nice to hear from other owners, both off-roaders and on-roaders? Whistle

Looking at the photos, is there any chance this vehicle has been in salt water - or do you live near the coast? My six year old Suzuki Jeep has less rust on it - and that has no rust protection applied!

PS I notice you have a Morgan +8 as well! Gone - 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey, ebony, zabrano trim, TV, Tasmods, mudflaps.

Sportman, recoating the underneath may invalidate the factory antirust preparation - Mantec make aluminum protection plates that you can fit to protect the underside when offroad. All the G4 RRS's are supposed to have it and here you can buy them from the dealer or direct from Mantec. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Went to Town & County in Aberdeen last week with car. They have not repaired the rusted items preferring to refer to land rover. That's been a week now, I wait with bated breath.

Well all the years I'v inspected vehicles Paul that looks bad.
The last 2 P38,s I have sold were used for 2 years to pull my Jet Ski's and boats in and out of the sea and they were not that bad.
I think it is a good idea LR come and look at it
As for your comment of coating it or protecting it, if you put waxoyl or similar on it this will seal the already started corrosion in and it will get worse.

Best of luck with it You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

Thanks for your view Nige.

Have continued the discussion in the more public forum of General.
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic6530.html

So, how do you think my corrosion could have been caused. Prolonged salt abuse? Failure to properly seal at factory? Do you or do you know anyone that can do an independent inspection for me to find out why it happened? 2022 P440e AB

It would be worth waiting to see the outcome from LR
Then if your not satisfied get someone like RAC or AA to inspect it.- Because the more weight the letter heading on the paperwork is the better as with legal issues etc.
It would point to early exposure to the elements - salt water - off roading etc You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

Off roading will cause rusting, the degree of it will depend on the soil. If you read LROI there is a guy called Chris Parsons who has a product called kleentect (?) he has several pages of advert that covers off this subject. But yours does look bad, I wouldn't be happy.
