It was a very pleasant day out although the next week will be T-Cut week getting 3 very nasty scratches out of each side, inflicted by the same gorse bush! The RRS didn't get stuck in the peat bogs unlike some (and I was on the stock contis and not on AT2's.
It was handy having a Land Rover Specialist Garage at the start of the track which followed a disused railway track for the first 2-3 miles
Here we are lined up at the old platform. The disused trackbed made for a nice start off before going into the hills
Once we left the old railway we changed over to a "shooting" track with a lovely firm base but that also required the use of the Rock Crawl setting in a few places
6 cars got stuck in a peat bog including this Disco - I was on the same bog but managed to stay on the firmer bits, The RRS performed faultlessly when it came to time to get off the bog - the driver didn't exactly excell as he selected 1st gear Low ratio by mistake when he should have driven off it in 3rd............ however nobody noticed and all the doubters in their Defenders and Discos who predicted that I would get stuck were disappointed when the car just breezed over the sinky bits without even spinning a wheel!
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

Apart from some scratches the only other "damage" is to those stupid clips that the cover for the front recovery eye locks onto................................. that's the 5th or 6th one that has fallen out and now I'm driving round with the

If anybody is in these parts in May there will be an Argyll 4x4 weekend in the Glashan Loch Area 26/27th May and then the SLROC have a Green Road Run on the 3rd June - contact me by PM or email for more details of either event. The SLROC event will be suitable for shinier RRS's but the it will be a very brave person (or a G4 RRS Owner!) who brings an RRS even for the shinies grroup of the Argyll event, it's more suited to cars that "have been around a bit" and the owner doesn't mind adding a few more scratches to - it's a Forest Drive so there are lots of trees on the offroad sections! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
