New struts but it's harder than I thought

Hey folks, last week I had a compressor give up the ghost and was diagnosed as needing replacing. No problem the last like for like was replaced in 2018 @ 60k and I go up and down every time, it's now on 106k. I had a weak strut that was banging so chose to fit 4 new shocks as they're age old anyway. The compressor was upgraded to an AMK jobbie and is fine, quicker in operation but that could have been the old one being tired. Now the overriding impression is that the ride is harder than I expected. I dont feel its wafting along any more. I know it wont be full fat standard but i was always happy with it. My wife has commented on it too. Am I to assume they'll be a settling in period after I've done a few miles. BWI units were fitted.

Thoughts please.

Isn't this just the normal and expected difference between dampers that are shot (and thus not damping properly) and ones that are new and working correctly? I'd have thought you'd get used to it and your brain will get used to the new "normal" fairly quickly.

When I had the rears replaced last year, it just felt like the rear was properly damped rather than slightly floaty. Fronts need doing now, really, so that's another £1200 to find... Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
