Newbie saying hello

Hello all, im declan. After working for land rover for 10years and being a religious ford nut i finally ventured over to the dark side (you'd of thought i of all people would know better Laughing ) and bought a fixer upper 2010 L320 sport HSE
Bought in June 2023 and finally got her running end of October. Love the car, dont enjoy the running costs thou ha.
I do have a few issues with it though as all 2010 sports probably do but thats for a different thread... this one was purely to say hello Thumbs Up [/i]

Evening Declan… welcome to the dark side…. You have the best of both worlds as I’m sure you’ll find a few Ford bits on your car… there’s the challenge for you to find…
Enjoy!

Haha yes i found alot of things do have the FoMoCo stamped on alot of things. As i said ive worked for Land Rover for over 10 years and things like that are the norm for me... ive always loved the facelifted L320 sports but after all these years ive never come across the faults that my own one is giving me. Its definitely been a labour of love so far and im sure it will carry on... so far in my 6month possession its had...

Full engine rebuild obvs with new timing belts
Crossover pipe
Both egr inlet pipes
Major service, every fluids changed and gearbox service
Front and rear ace pipes
Front and rear arc bar bushes
Front to rear and rear link metal brake pipes
Both nearside wheel bearing
Nsr upper hub bush
Front lower arms
Rear prop centre bearing
Fuel tank sender wiring modification
Completely undersealed whilst i had the body off
New gloss black side steps
New mud flaps
New spoiler and reverse camera, courtesy of Land Rover
New battery
Nsf, osf, osr door latches
Screenwash pump
Rear wiper motor
Rear parking sensor
Autobiography gloss black side vents
Led reg plate lamps
Wind deflectors
All brakes stripped, cleaned, greased
Csov solenoid
Rear shocks and air springs
Dunlop suspension compressor
2 front tyres (22s)
4 wheel alignment
Nearside inlet manifold

So as you can see from the list its had alot of love (and bloody money) then it has the audacity to throw more faults Big Cry

Bloody hell man!
Sounds like you need to sell it to me now that work is complete.. I’m sure you will sort it out soon.. it’s also worth going on the Disco3 and 4 forum as the knowledge on there is exceptional and as you know there are many similar parts..

I thought that lol. But its still not finished yet as it has threw a few more faults at me recently and i cant sell a car that i know has issues, im too honest and wouldnt get back what ive put into it selling it with the faults on. I just crap myself when i turn the key thinking what's going to go wrong today then lol.

Its a shame because i really do love these cars ever since i started working for land rover, initially i bought it so i had a decent tow car for my touring caravan. It replaced a mk4 2.2 mondeo titanium x sport estate that towed well but did get alot of squatting on back end even though the caravan was at correct weight and loaded correctly, FWD car with all the weight at the back on a damp field doesnt mix well. I thought 4wd with air suspension would do the trick nicely. The mondeo shares the same engine as the 2.2 freelander 2 and early evoques and I know theyre pretty much bullet proof... perhaps the evoque will be my next choice... best of both worlds i suppose as its just a posh rebodied 4WD mondeo... just without the air suspension.

Good shout about the disco forums. I shall look into that Thumbs Up

They really are outstanding tow cars.. you won’t know the caravan is on the back other than having a mirror full.. we tow a Horsebox and race trailer and it’s a sublime tow machine..

I love the 2.2.. we have an FL2 in the family that has done 170,000 miles and my wife’s Evoque is an SD4 2.2 and again the engines have been faultless… but they are not a Sport or D3/4 for driving practicality..

Yes im actually quite looking forward to towing with it to see the difference as the mondeo did pitch alot and just hoping it feels alot more sturdy with the air suspension set up on the RRS.

Yes the 2.2s are good. We have a FL2 that comes into work that has 320,000 miles on Surprised
I totally agree the 2.2s wont be the same as the sport or discos for driving practicality but for me it would be the best of both worlds as the 2.2 engine is what is in my mondeo estate and it has been a faultless car, i just wished it was 4wd... so the evoque to me would ideal i think. 2010 RRS, TDV6
