Deployable Side Steps

Anyone had any retrofit deployable side steps fit? If so any recommendations, LR want £3995.

Some 4x4 specialists are quoting £1800 but unsure if it is the right thing to do. ——————————————

Hi,

I have had the JLR deployables on my last three sports (including my new L461).

I thought about aftermarket but fitting at PDI means I get a three year warranty on them plus, they are fully integrated into Pivi-pro which I don’t want third parties mucking around with.

The L461OEM steps are different to the L494 as well, which I’m not sure aftermarket have caught on to.

With the L494, the step brackets become the jacking points, on the L461 they are NOT, there is an “auxiliary jacking point” kit to be fitted with the steps.

Fitting instructions available online explains.

Thanks, good point about the Pivi-pro.

The quote I had was from Pegasus 4x4, just trying to work out the pro & cons. They do say they are plug and play item. ——————————————

Faza,

The L461’s need to be for Pivi-pro AND the brackets are different, they DO NOT include the ability to jack up on the side steps - the latest need additional auxiliary jacking points fitted too.

Look here:- https://accessories-instructions.landrover.com/enuk/L461/G3316861

It’s up to you - your car - but mine are OEM.

No wonder they are expensive dealer for when you follow what is required in that installation guide. Seems that OEM is the best way to go!

Hi JP,

That was my conclusion too.

£1200 plus shipping, plus fitting (and no guarantee all the other bits come too) might not be the bargain as first seen.

If fitted at PDI, they come with a three year warranty, as do all PDI fitted LR accessories.

Bad luck on the back order fuel flap - I’m glad I got in early.

Was looking at the Pegasus steps, but have to concur, the amount of work needed to install, some of it invasive is probably best left to JLR…..
