suspension fault

The suspension on my wifes 2012 RRS wont lower into access height. When you press the button to go down it lowers slightly then goes straight up into offroad height saying something about an obstacle. is this a well known fault? shes only had the car 6 days so just want to have an idea what the problem is before i ring the garage back.many thanks

Ensure park brake off when u do it. Ideally out

Could be Exhaust valve which is part of the air compressor

Suspension could require calibration

Know on older models

Great thankyou. Didnt realise the park brake needed to be off, on mine it works both on and off. Thanks again

It will work with the park brake selected, but if you watch the wheels when you lower to access height, you will see that there is a slight change in wheelbase - the front wheels turn ever so slightly if the EPB is applied. That rotation is then applying torque to any part of the drivetrain that is restrained. No idea if that includes the gearbox in park but knocking it in to access height as you slow to a stop means that everything is free to move as it settles.

As for why it won't drop to access height sometimes, it's usually the exhaust on the compressor. Although usually quoted as being non-serviceable, people have done so with aftermarket kits. Otherwise, it's a new compressor. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
