H & S issue - watch your hands (and spare wheels)

Hi,

I've had all the wheels off my new D300 AB to seal them from the winter salt and brake dust.

In doing so I've spotted an issue and fed it back to my dealer. They agree it's an H&S issue and are feeding it back to JLR.

(1) If you look under the rear wheel arch - at about the 4-5 o'clock position (RHS) 7-8 o'clock (LHS) , you will see welded stud (6mm) which is used to secure the liner. There is about 12-15mm of this stud sticking out. This will rip the sponge out of your hand if you're cleaning the wheel arches, or stick in the back of your hand if removing/re-fitting a wheel.

(2) In the boot, in the space forward of the spare wheel fixture and before the carpetted surround, you will find two more 6mm studs (full length exposed -"un-used" on my D300). When lifting and pulling forward the (heavy) full size spare wheel, it catches on thes studs and damages the paint on the inside of the (brand new) spare wheel.

I've oredered 10 of these (5.5mm diameter):-

and intend to cover these (and any others I find).

A cheap fix, but I'd heve preferred JLR to have sorted it first.

I'm not sure which annoyed me more - the damaged wheel , or stabbing my hand!!!!! Shocked
