I don’t think it was the park brake, I think the car went into park. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Col - found the sequence to use - mmmm let’s see as there’s no sequence that I can find to cancel it and I don’t want to be stuck

NoExpert - sorry but what’s the wedge adjuster you refer to , is it the knurled wheel with the tabs on ? Not sure I want to tug the emergency release as again not sure on what’s required to put it back in service, unless the epb does it automatically

Have gone and bought the parts so hopefully here on Saturday- then I’ll put car in my garage and prep to start on Sunday

Am going to se if the epb applies automatically when I turn the car off in N - least I can try and push it see if it moves Rolling with laughter

Again all advice keep it coming, any tips whatsoever are welcome Thumbs Up

If you are referring to the bedding in sequence, you don't need to cancel it after you have finished the 10 applications etc. it will self cancel or just drive above 29mph.

Col - Shocked thanks I think ......... Big Cry Censored Censored now I’m beginning to think again

From what I’ve gleaned below if I leave my epb off and switch car off, after 20 mins it wakes up goes FU you left the park brake of so I’m putting it on Censored

I not sure where some of this crap appears from, I have left my car in the garage with the park brake off for day's on end and it has never applied itself while it's been parked there. Stop over thinking it and follow bodsys bible to the letter and you will be ok.

Iv done both our D3s and my sport iv never used the bedding in proceedure just adjusted the parking brake shoes as required never had an issue.

Just do it man !!!

Watch the Brembo shoes. They fit a bit odd on mine which I wasn’t happy with, so I ended up putting the old ones back (still in good condition). I installed a new LR spring kit which seemed stronger being new springs. The Brembo retaining springs are so-so, used my old ones. The adjustment procedure is easy to do, just follow all the steps. In the end I basically installed new rotors, new spring kit, adjusted the shoes correctly and cleaned things up. No more noise from the PBM and no more shaking when I hit the brakes, I’ll call it a success.

Also found out my left rear wheel bearing is shot, so need to get that done soon. Not excited about that. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

If your car vin is after BA701292 you need this kit for the springs as it contains the small red and green springs that for whatever reason were not used on the earlier cars, only £20.00 odd quid so cheap enough for a genuine spring kit, and another tenner for the genuine (SMN500012) pin/clip shoe retaining clip set.

Yes, mine is BA705XXX and I got the kit with the red and green bias springs. The kit even includes the spring/protectors for the parking brake cables inside.

So the Brembo shoes I got didn’t make contact with the anchor, the stock shoes did. The Brembos wanted to lift off at the outer edges, the stock shoes remained tight to the back plate. The Brembos had almost no room for adjustment (11-12 clicks from bottomed to locked by hand), won’t comment on the stock shoes as they’re used. Included Brembo retaining clips bent after being installed, 12 year old stock clips retained their shape and strength (obviously not as well as new, but better than the Brembo retaining clips).

I could have used the Brembos, but there was just enough little things to push me to continue using the stock shoes for now.

Definitely adjust the wedge screw as per instructions. I could hear mine ping inside when backed off and tapped around the drum area outside. Torqued back up to 6 nm and good to go.

For now I’m going to hold onto the Brembo shoes I think and maybe when I do the rear wheel bearings I’ll think about giving them another try. I’ll probably pick up a set of LR retaining pins and clips for that round as well.

Realistically it’s a pretty easy job. I personally think the hardest part is getting the primary shoe back on, but not too bad. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Eh up all,

Well it’s going well .....

Pads arriving tomorrow.....discs now Monday - supplier cocked up order FFS Censored

So plan is get it all prepped tomorrow and I’ll have to work around in an evening to rebuild- not great but at least it’s in garage

Col - vin on mine starts DA775 - so suspect it’s earlier

LRStaylor- cheers good to know on the bedding in

NoExpert - interesting on the wedge now I know what it is , I would have been tempted to ignore that aspect to be honest if I hadn’t have read everything to death on here Shocked On everything else I’ve owned no pi88ing around with two points just adjust the main adjustment wheel and hey ho off you go.
But I’m glad

One question I do have is I will be doing the Bodsy instructional to put the epb in service mode. How do you get it out of service mode though .?

Anyone know - is it just replace fuse and start car apply epb as normal????

You need a bl88dy degree to figure this lot out - like patting your head and rubbing your belly whilst spannering - I’m getting old !!,, : Rolling with laughter

Yours is later, 2010=AA, 2011=BA, 2012=CA, 2013=DA, and so on.

When you’re done and switch the ignition on (don’t start it) the dash will likely say something like parking brake in service mode - pull parking brake switch twice to resume normal operation. Pull the switch twice and it’ll perform the latching procedure.

Honestly the Bodsy procedure seems way easier than using diagnostics and switching the ignition off and on 100 times. Will try it when I do my rear wheel bearings soon. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

If you are replacing the epb shoes, why would you not do the correct bedding in procedure as recommended by the manufacturer when it is so simple to do.

Morning!

Well it won’t play at going into service mode no matter what I try .

Been at it an hour and nothing- followed Bodsys to the letter - what am I doing wrong Censored

Nothing comes up on dash to tell me it’s in service mode and I cannot hear the epb retracting further from its already off position

Will keep trying though - any ideas other than I’m an idiot Confused
