According to Lrcat the camera is part of the rearview mirror - LR024335

Don't waste your money on it, another L/R gimmick that nearly works, leave mine switched off as well, slow to activate at times, also tripped by reflective road signs etc. The buttons in bottom of mirror are for the "home link" option garage door opener.

I had the covers off my interior rear view mirror yesterday to tidy up the Dash cam wiring and saw that there is some sort of sensor facing forward as per the pic.

Rain Sensor, so yes does work in conjunction with the auto wipers.

Totally separate to the HBA mirror so no need to touch it, it's not actually a camera in the HBA mirror as such more of a photocell type thing I think, or image sensor as L/R call it.

I’m probably the only one who likes HBA and the auto wipers in my 2011 RRS. I have HBA on, but they seem to need to learn if you reset faults or disconnect the battery. I think you may need to alter the CCF if you add it. Prior to this recent reset they were working nearly perfectly. It seems to take around a dozen off/ons for it to get the idea. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Mine is always on as well. I don't find it significantly slower or worse performing than the HBA I got in a 2022 VW. Regards etc.,
