The body needs to be lifted a small amount from the chassis at the rear to allow access to remove\replace the bar. Some work but no where near as much work as a full body off.

If they do lift the body off, consider the fixed brake lines that run along the chassis. They're not expensive but basically need the body lifting to do them. Also, have the crossover pipe on the rear of the engine checked for corrosion. That's an expensive item (£400, I think) but is a body off job (or at least an awful lot easier and quicker with the body off). Rather depends on how long you intend to keep the vehicle, really. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
