Front passenger door won't open

Couldn't see how to move previous post into faults as put in General by mistake

Car had front passenger door lock replaced as it wouldn't lock
Then on way back wife put window down and we heard a clunking, cracking noise briefly but then went down and back up. Tried again and no noise

When got home, she couldn't open the door using the latch. I tried pressing the unlock on fob and drivers side unlock button, but to no avail. The unlock lock part to latch seems stiff and doesn't move when press any unlock way.

Walked round and couldn't open the door from outside either.

Upshot is only way to open the door now is to have key fob next to door handles outside, put hand inside handle, hear a click and then you can open it from outside, but still not inside

Any help please 🙏

Garage have changed the locking system but still same but I'm sure it's the latch inside as heard crunch when window lowered and was able to open door inside and out before lock changed and window put down

Sounds a bit like the release cable from from the internal handle to the latch may have snapped, disconnected somehow or not refitted correctly when lock changed, only a suggestion.

Thanks Col.

Could those of got damaged when the window was lowered ? If say the garage left a wire loose etc from when they did the new lock ?

They seem to think it's electrical but after hearing that crunching noise When we lowered window 1st time, after having lock changed, I'm sure it's something manual if you get me like what you said.

The internal latch is alot tighter than all other and internal lock button won't move if you press unlock and even manually stiff and does nothing 😑

Have a look at the other replies in the post you put in the general section.
