Odd headlight behaviour L494 MY17

Hi all,

I am experiencing some odd behaviour with the front headlights in my L494 2017.

It started with the left indicator ticking fast: turned out the left DRL was not working. However as i was trying multiple things to fix it i also noticed:

- when the lights are set to low beam the headlights are actually on, together with the right drl;
- when the lights are set to main beam the headlights are *off*, but the right drl stays on;
- when the lights are set to full beam the headlights are on (and brighter), right drl is on.

The left drl is always off which in a way comforts me. But the headlight being weird worries me. I have checked fuses ( in the glove compartment and under the bonnet - as far as i can tell there’s nothing headlight related in the boot but please do correct me) and disconnected the battery but no luck so far!

Thanks in advance!

Check the earth point for the headlight. Usually the DRL and indicator start playing up first with a dodgy earth. I don't think that's what's wrong in your case, but its free and easy to check Thumbs Up

So i took into the garage and they found a broken wire. I didn't think anything of this until I started reading about CAN injection attacks..... I couldn't find any RR specific information on this but apparently RAV4s have been stolen with this technique....

And I am now paranoid that thieves are after my car (again)
