What does 'tow preparation' actually mean?

Hi all
we will be looking for a Sport in the next month or so and need one with a tow bar. I keep seeing ads where the spec lists 'tow prep'. Obviously this means that some of the wiring etc is already in place for a tow bar but as a potential buyer, what would it mean we would have to fit and spend to fit a tow bar and would it only be a removable one or could it be a deployable one?

I've been in touch with our local LR dealer but every time I call they ask for a Reg number when all I want are the answers to the questions above!

Can anyone help? Pleeeese? Thank you Smile

Edited to add: either 2017 3l SDV6 or 2015/16 4.4l SDV8

Hi,

we had a 2016 3.0 sdv6 and from memory All TBP means is it has the multiplug in the back end to connect the electrics to Rolling Eyes

there is no receiver section already in place, you have a few options though, Electric deployable, fully fixed, removable swan neck, removable bolt on ball and I think even a removable that takes a 2" receiver,
Make sure you double check what type you want and what type you have fitted/buy Exclamation

I needed a removable but bolt on tow ball as I also used a motorcycle carrier.

here is an old thread showing Andy's work and mine and links with an idea of costs, if you have a go with the "Search" button should will get more reading.

Thumbs Up
