Call me foolish, but I am picking up a full set of new leather seat covers for my 4.2 SC. These are everything I need to replace the front and rear worn, scuffed, dirty and cracked Ivory original items. It includes the fridge cover, arm rests etc etc.

I know it's a bit of a project, but for not much more than the cost of getting new panels let into the sides of my existing front seat bases, I can replace the whole of the interior.

I have a trimmer chum I can call on if I get stuck, but thought I'd see if anyone has any tips on removing front and rear seats and then taking off the seat covers.

I've seen the L322 video on the Powerfuluk website and read up on replacing the front seat squab covers and foam and that doesn't seem too daunting, but any guidance anyone can give will no doubt save a lot of blood sweat and tears.

I'm going to start with the rears, to get a feel for the whole project and can use it daily whilst they're out. Also fitting heated seat elements as the car didn't have them originally.

All going well so far ! started with the single rear seat base to get my eye in and have now done both rear bases, the rear arm rest and both front arm rests.

Also installed heated seat pads in the front bases, with new foam, but as the car is going in for the suspension, I don't want any grubby backsides sitting on my immaculate seats, so will leave installing the fronts until that's been sorted.

It's been fairly stress and problem free so far. Taking off the old covers has shown me exactly how it all goes together, so reinstallation of the new covers hasn't been an issue. I've used cable ties rather than hog clips and the benefit of that is that you can gradually tighten them up as you go along, to ensure the cover is in the right place.

The Overfinch covers are immaculate and very well made - I'll be scared to sit in the thing when I've finished.

how different do they look compared to the original?

Not massively - I.e they’re still Ivory, but obviously new, unmarked, unscratched, not cracked, creased, sagging etc etc

Originals were perforated, whereas these are fluted.
