Ingenium (Diesel) Air Filter replacement?

hello all

last week I saw in the servicedescription (available on OSH) of the new Ingenium Diesel (I suppose the Petrol has the same schedule) that the:
- air filters are changed every four years or 68000kms
- the cabin air filter is changed every two years

from my point of view it's way too long..
I prefer to change these filters every year.

so, I have bought Mann filters and just replaced that.

my question, if somebody also did that already (or knows a JLR mechanic)
with the cold engine I was not able to move the air filter cover so that I could remove the air filter (specially on the right side in driving direction), because everything was cold. I drove few kilometers and I just wanted to check if I have proper tightened the screws and checked if the (old) filter was proper in place... I then realized, that the cover could be moved because everything was nicely warm..

I tried to "click out" the marked holder of the cable from the mass airflow sensor, but no chance (I also didn't want to do it rough to avoid any damages).
So I just lifted the cover and looked after the cable not to damage it... removed the old filter, cleaned up the case and inserted the new filter.

long story short:
is this the right way? (goal is achieved: filters are replaced) but I am asking if the workshop also does in this way, or do they remove the mass air flow sensor cable etc..
The cable is really firm placed on the cover and doesn't allow much space to maneuver

attached a picture to visualize.. (red mark shows the clip which holds the cable)

cheers
