Afternoon all

I've been pondering the idea of an SVR for a while now (amongst other things, SDV8's, L405's, etc.).

I currently have 7 cars and am thinking of replacing my 4.2 Supercharged L322 and my 5.0 Supercharged XFR with an SVR.

The economy of the car doesn't really bother me as the L322 is doing somewhere between 11 and 13mpg on my usual trips when being driven gently. The XFR is doing 21-22 on the same strips with a bit of stick thrown in for good measure.

My wife has just given birth to our first child and has taken a shine to using the RR as it's a convenient size but I'm getting fed up having to fill it every I go out in it or every 250 miles as there's nowhere locally that it's easy to get premium petrol being out in the sticks.

I know it's entirely dependent on how it's driven, the type of driving, etc. but does anyone know roughly what range you can expect off a tank on an SVR?

We've got family in North Wales (we're in Glasgow) so I'd like to know:

Local tank range (mixed driving)
Local tank range (having fun)
Long distance tank range (sitting at legal speeds)

I know I'm going to get slated from the "You don't buy one of these if economy worries you" brigade

i switched from a 4.4SD L405 to a new 2022 SVR a few months ago. Not sure about range as such but on regular trips from home to Winchester (ie all motorway, not particularly trying to be economical with my right foot) it will do 24mpg quite easily, so given the petrol/diesel price disparity it actually costs little different overall compared to the diesel.
On local use (rural, some town) it's doing high teens.
It's no hero mpg-wise but think it's pretty fair for a 575 supercharged V8 brick!

That's actually better then I expected and a lot better then my L322 is!

Budget for me will probably limit me to a 2016 or 2017 model I think. Although, it wouldn't be the first time man maths has made me spend more

Then that model is considerably more frugal than the later model. I had a 17 plate SVR and on motorways runs it could easily do 26-28mpg… my later 2020 car struggles to get 22mpg..,

That's interesting.

I take it the economy has suffered as they've been pushing the power figure higher.

I need to try and find one to drive now as I've only ever admired them and have never even been in an L494 Sport.

Never had an svr but had 5 scv8 autobiographys and live in the Highlands and travel regularly to Bedfordshire and average 27mpg doing 80mph - would never go back to diesel as one of my sdv6 models from 2015 averaged 31 on same route so I found it to be a no brainer MY18 SCV8 Satin flux silver

I completed a 2,500 mile trip in my 2019 SVR that was 95% motorway driving with average speeds of 75-80 mph, my fuel average was just over 23 mpg. I’ve never seen either of my SVR’s get over 25 mpg in any driving condition. 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE

Mine's a V8 SC but has been remapped to at least SVR levels too and I get around 23MPG in mixed driving and 25/26 on a motorway run. I'd say that compared to my previous SDV6 the short runs are the worst for fuel economy - guess you're heating up a larger block of metal!

All in all, given the petrol/diesel price difference it's a no-brainer for me - it's the best (most characterful, sonorous, punchy yet refined) engine I've come across including that in my Aston DB9...and totally transforms the car compared to the diesel. 2014 L494 V8 s/c Autobiography Dynamic

Mine is 28-30mpg on dual carriage motorways and 13/15 mpg in town. Full tank is about 396 miles  MY14 Freelander 2 Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior
